Hotel Volcano Lodge

The Volcano Lodge is located between La Fortuna de San Carlos and Lake Arenal with perfect views of the world famous Arenal Volcano. Just four hours from San Jose and near the Tabacon Hot Springs, the Lodge offers some of the best views of the lava flow from the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica. The property is surrounded by exotic tropical gardens which accentuate the beautiful area and decorate the private terraces of each room.

Freeform pools and an open air Jacuzzi offer guests an opportunity to relax amidst the amazing natural surroundings. The Volcano Lodge has sixty five spacious and very comfortable rooms with air conditioning and private bathrooms. All rooms have cable tele-vision, safe deposit boxes, and a private terrace with a view of the vol-cano. Internet and telephone service is available all over the property. A variety of special spa services are also available upon request. The spa is known for its volcanic mud wrap- a true treat!

Volcano Lodge is also home to two of the best restaurants in the area. The varied menu includes a wide selection of both Costa Rican cuisine and international favorites. The restaurant is home to an enor-mous fish tank that offers a unique conversation topic during mealtime. Live music is often an added treat for the patrons of the restaurant, Suria.


The Lodge also has a number of locally painted murals depicting area fauna and flora throughout the property. A small well stocked gift shop is also on the property to make picking up your last minute souvenirs even easier. The Staff of the Volcano Lodge are eager to provide any assis-tance they can is helping you arrange for tours or transportation while on site. The goal of the Lodge is to provide their guests with a memorable experience while they visit this amazing national park.

The Arenal Volcano National Park is home to an amazing variety of animal and plant species. One of Costa Rica’s most active volcanoes, Arenal has eruptions and visible lava flows most regularly. Dormant for many hundreds of years, it was in 1968 when the volcano came alive again erupted wiping out a local village and killing approximately eighty resi-dents.

Many changes have occurred in the area since then. The world famous Lake Arenal was formed and now produces much of the hydro- electric power used in Costa Rica and the Arenal Volcano National Park was founded providing a valuable ecological area visited by many people from around the world every year.

These two major occurrences have made Arenal and the surrounding area a must on ever Costa Rican tourist’s list and the Volcano Lodge offers a quiet beautiful location for one to set up a base while exploring all that Costa Rican nature has to offer.

The lodge has 65 spacious and comfortable rooms with two double beds, a/c and private bathroom with hot water.

Each room features a private terrace with unhindered view of the Arenal Volcano. In addition, the hotel offers a swimming pool, 2 Jacuzzis and a restaurant.
